Williams: 'Gruden good for RGIII'

Washington Redskins executive Doug Williams has expressed his belief that head coach Jay Gruden and quarterback Robert Griffin III will work well together.

Griffin was voted as the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012 but had a disappointing season in 2013, as the Redskins won just three games and finished bottom of the NFC East.

The 23-year-old struggled with injury during the off-season and reports surfaced that he was unhappy with how former coach Mike Shanahan dealt with the situation, but Williams is confident that there will be no such fall-out with Gruden in charge.

"With coach Gruden, I don't think he could ask for a better guy to be his coach," he told reporters.

Williams is a former Redskins quarterback himself, having guided the team to Super Bowl success in 1987.
