Davis suspended for substance abuse

Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Davis, who was drafted in 2008, played 10 games for the Skins last season but his future will now be heavily in doubt following the ban.

The player was suspended for breaching the same policy in 2011, which led to him missing the final four games of that season only.

His 2011 season was the most promising to date as he managed 796 yards from 59 catches, but he has since slipped down the order and will be replaced in the off-season.
