Smith: 'Locker room is very important'

Tennessee Titans president and CEO Tommy Smith has talked up the importance of having a strong locker room.

Titans tight end Delanie Walker claimed that a number of players in their locker room last season were like "cancers" to the team as they fell from a promising 3-1 start to a 7-9 record.

Smith acknowledged that Walker could have chosen his words more wisely, but echoed his sentiments that a healthy locker room was a vital aspect for any team.

"The locker room is very, very important in this sport. They all need to be pulling in the same direction," Smith told 104.5 The Zone.

"I'm not sure Delanie used the right word in terms of 'cancer', but we need people to have equal commitment to winning, to the betterment of this organization."

Smith also confirmed that the team would be "active" when the free agency market opens on March 11.
