Buccaneers' Nicks defends coach Schiano's training methods

Left guard Carl Nicks that says some of his newer teammates need to "suck it up" following complaints about the toughness of coach Greg Schiano's training techniques.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers guard Carl Nicks has said that the training camps "haven't been that bad", despite complaints from some of his teammates.

A report on NFL.com suggested some Bucs' players were unhappy about coach Greg Schiano's tough methods, but Nicks has claimed that he has taken part in harder sessions.

Nicks told the Tampa Bay Tribune "My first year in the league was the hardest training camp I've ever experienced. Schiano has not even come close to that yet. Seriously, it's not that bad.

"Maybe some of the guys that came from different teams or were rookies last year and they just weren't used to it. The guys that were here last year, we're used to it and to us it wasn't that difficult.

"We just have to make sure everyone is on the same page and that no one is kind of moping around and bringing the whole team down. Basically, guys just have to suck it up."

Team morale has been a big talking point for the Buccaneers so far this season, with friction between the players and coaching staff supposedly being a large contributing factor in their 0-3 start to the campaign.
