Stedman Bailey hit with four-match ban

St Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey is banned for the first four matches of the 2014 season having violated the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

St Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey has been suspended for the opening four matches of the 2014 season having violated the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Bailey will miss the matches against the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles before being eligible to return on October 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.

However, the 23-year-old will be able to take part in his side's off-season programme as well as all of their pre-season matches and practices.

Bailey was a third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and featured more towards the latter stages of last season, finishing the campaign with 17 catches for 226 yards and a rushing touchdown.

He had been expected to be given a bigger role in the team during the upcoming season, with the Rams neglecting to choose a wide receiver in this year's Draft.
