Kam Chancellor: Seattle Seahawks contract talks "petty"

Kam Chancellor believes that contract negotiations with the Seattle Seahawks have got "petty" as he seeks a new deal.

Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor has claimed that contract talks with the team are getting "petty".

The 27-year-old has been linked with a trade to the New York Giants in the past few days but Chancellor is willing to meet the Seahawks halfway, and the two sides are reportedly less than $1m (£647,500) apart.

Chancellor has told NFL Network reporter Dan Hellie that he is not looking for new money but wants his salary in 2017 moved to 2016 instead.

Hellie said: "He told me he feels like this whole thing could be over by now."

Seattle reportedly fear that should they bend to Chancellor's demands, they will have more players knocking on their door to restructure deals in the future.

The Seahawks believe that the safety will miss the opening game of the season and could sit out the entire campaign should contract talks continue to stall.
