Russell Wilson speaks highly of "great person" Drew Brees

Wilson speaks highly of Brees

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has levelled great praise at his New Orleans Saints counterpart Drew Brees.

Ahead of Monday night's clash between the two sides, Wilson spoke of his huge admiration for Brees - a player whom he studied intensely while he was in college.

Wilson told reporters: "I followed Drew Brees a lot. I followed his college career and I remember my dad telling me I have to watch this guy, because he is awesome. I think he threw 89 passes against the University of Wisconsin, where I went.

"I watched him when he was with the San Diego Chargers and I really started following him a lot there, studying him, his footwork and what he does.

"I admire his leadership, his attention to detail and competitive nature. He is very poised in big situations. He is a great dude and playing with him in the Pro Bowl was a special moment for me."

Both the Seahawks and the Saints lead their respective divisions, with many experts tipping the sides to meet in the Super Bowl-deciding NFC Championship game.
