Seattle Seahawks wait on Percy Harvin tests

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll reveals that he would not know whether Percy Harvin will be fit for Sunday's NFC Championship game until later this week.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has revealed that he would not know whether wide receiver Percy Harvin will be fit for Sunday's match against the San Francisco 49ers until later this week.

Harvin suffered concussion during last weekend's playoff victory over the New Orleans Saints when he attempted a leaping catch late in the first half and hit his head on the ground when landing.

The NFL's concussion protocol dictates a mandatory set of tests be undertaken in the case of a head injury, leaving Carroll in the dark as to whether or not Harvin will recover in time for the NFC Championship game.

"We [are] fortunate that we got the extra day. That really helps in these kinds of situations. We'll just see how he does. We won't know until Wednesday or Thursday until after all the tests are run," Carroll told ESPN.

Harvin was making just his second appearance of the season on Saturday, having been dogged by injuries throughout the current campaign.
