Marshawn Lynch wins appeal against 'media snub' fine

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch releases a statement on Facebook telling his fans that he has won his appeal against an NFL fine.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has won his appeal against a fine that the NFL imposed after his decision to not speak to the media throughout the duration of the campaign.

Lynch was handed the $50,000 (£30,448) penalty on Sunday, but has released a statement via his Facebook page, making his fans aware that he has been cleared and that he intends to donate to charity instead of lining the league's pockets.

His statement read: "To all the 12s, I appreciate your support. Wanted you to know I appealed the fine & won, but I'm still going to match all donations made at http://www.gofundme.com/626xk0 & donate it to a local Seattle charity.

"Thanks to Loren Summers for starting the site, we've talked & after the deadline, even if $50k isn't met & all contributions are given back, I'll donate the matched total # anyway. #12thman #Seahawks #BeastMode."

The league's rules state that reporters must be given 45-minute access to players four days a week, as well as after games. Lynch disagreed, stating some players spend too much time around the media.
