Pete Carroll: 'Marshawn Lynch uncomfortable with media'

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has admitted that star running back Marshawn Lynch is uncomfortable when it comes to fulfilling his media duties.

Lynch spent just six minutes with the press during a mandatory media day on Tuesday, risking the wrath of the NFL having been fined $50,000 (£30,500) earlier in the season for not talking to the media.

Carroll acknowledged that Lynch does not appreciate being forced to fulfil press duties by the NFL's guidelines and is keen to "respect" that.

"He doesn't feel comfortable in settings like this, and he doesn't like to do things he's told to do. Fortunately that hasn't been a factor for our football team," Carroll told reporters.

"But in this setting, he becomes something of a recluse and he doesn't want to be part of it. We try to respect him as much as we can."

Lynch is expected to be a key player for the Seahawks when they face the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
