Darnell Dockett signs with San Francisco 49ers

Darnell Dockett signs a two-year deal to join the San Francisco 49ers after being cut by the Arizona Cardinals last week.

The San Francisco 49ers have signed former Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett.

Dockett has signed a two-year deal with the franchise, with agent Drew Rosenhaus confirming the news on his official Twitter account.

The 33-year-old is coming off the back of an ACL tear which forced him to miss the entire 2014 season, but insists that he will be crowned Comeback Player of the Year next season.

Arizona cut the defensive tackle last week after negotiations over a pay reduction collapsed, with Dockett demanding more than what was offered.

It is understood that Dockett's deal will be split and include money guaranteed which offers him the salary that he had wanted with the Cardinals.
