Eric Reid "looking forward" to facing Adrian Peterson

San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid is hoping to tackle league MVP Adrian Peterson when they play the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.

Eric Reid has said that he will be aiming to tackle Adrian Peterson when the San Francisco 49ers play the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.

The rookie safety is likely to make his first start for the 49ers on Sunday, while the reigning league MVP will see his first action of the pre-season.

The 21-year-old told the team's official website: "I'm looking forward to it. That's obviously a guy I've watched a lot of growing up. So that would be nice.

"Maybe if I can tackle him, get a solo tackle and have a picture, that would be something I would keep. There are always expectations from the media and the fans, but I don't really look much into that.

"I always want to better myself as a player. I'm self-motivated. The pressure that I feel is all by me."

The 49ers selected Reid in the first round of this year's draft.
