Dobbs suspended for first game of 2013 season

Demarcus Dobbs has been suspended from the opening game of the season for breaching the NFL's policy on substance abuse.

The San Francisco 49ers defensive end, who occasionally also plays as a tight end, will miss the week one clash with the Green Bay Packers.

In a brief statement, 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said: "The San Francisco 49ers organisation supports the NFL's code of conduct policy and their recent decision regarding Demarcus."

The 25-year-old joined the team in 2011 as an undrafted free agent.
