David Akers has said that he would trade his record-equalling 63-yard field goal to have made game-winning field goals against the St Louis Rams.

The San Francisco 49ers kicker missed field goals in overtime in both games against their NFC West rivals this season, handing a tie and a win to the Rams.

The 38-year-old The AP: "It's a game, it's a business, it's my career, but it's not who I am. I would definitely give that 63-yarder back to make the two kicks against St. Louis.

"People talk about my demeanour being down, listen, I take my job seriously. I feel when I miss kicks I let the team, the organisation, the fans down. I take it personal."

Akers tied the NFL record for the longest field goal in San Francisco's win over the Green Bay Packers in the first week of the season.

However, he's made just 29 of 42 attempts this year, resulting in Billy Cundiff being signed to compete for kicking duties.
