49ers fans plan billboard taunting Seahawks

A group of San Francisco 49ers fans have outlined their plans to buy a billboard in Seattle poking fun at the Seahawks' lack of a Super Bowl trophy.

Fans have raised $8,379 (£5,146) for the billboard, which will feature an image of the 'The Catch', a memorable play that clinched the 1982 NFC Championship game for the 49ers, behind pictures of their five Super Bowl trophies.

The billboard will cost $7,000 (£4,300), with the remaining money being donated to Seattle's Children's Hospital.

The move is the latest stunt in a growing rivalry between the two teams after Seahawks fans bought a brick at the 49ers' new stadium and arranged for a '12th Man' banner to be flown over their current stadium, Candlestick Park.

The Seahawks have the best record in the NFL this season (12-2) but have never won a Super Bowl crown, reaching just one final in their history.
