Ryan Clark: 'Difficult to enforce N-word rule'

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark believes that a rule penalising players for using the N-word during matches would be difficult to enforce.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark has expressed his belief that the NFL will find it tough to enforce a rule punishing players for using the N-word on the field.

The league's competition committee will soon consider bringing in a rule to prevent the racial slur being used during matches, with a 15-yard penalty being proposed as the punishment for such an infringement.

"I think it's going to be really tough to legislate this rule, to find a way to penalise everyone who uses this word, and it's not going to be white players using it toward black players. Most of the time you hear it, it's black players using the word," Clark told ESPN.

Clark has been with the Steelers for eight seasons following stints with the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins.
