Philadelphia Eagles sign Alejandro Villaneuva

The Philadelphia Eagles sign Alejandro Villanueva, who has spent the last four years as a member of the US Army, to a rookie free-agent contract.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed defensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva to a rookie free-agent contract.

Villanueva has spent the last four years as an active member of the United States Army, serving three tours in Afghanistan and recently being promoted to captain.

He took part in a regional combine in Detroit last month and can play a number of different positions having featured on the offensive and defensive lines as well as at wide receiver.

The 6'9" 25-year-old played for the Army in 2009 and led the team in receptions (34), yards (522) and touchdowns (five) as a wide receiver.
