Evan Mathis: 'I'm ready for my best season in the NFL'

NFL guard Evan Mathis has insisted that he is fighting fit and waiting to enjoy his best season yet.

Mathis is currently a free agent having been released by the Philadelphia Eagles this off-season, but has suggested that should a new club come along for his services he will be ready to deliver.

"My body of work was limited last year due to the injury," Mathis told Sports Illustrated.

"I'm very much ready to come back strong for an entire season and have my best year yet. I'll listen to the age talk when I lose a step."

Mathis spent seven games of last season on the touchlines with a sprained medial collateral ligament.
