Chip Kelly rules out Nick Foles move

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly rules out the possibility of Nick Foles leaving the franchise, despite not being named as the starting quarterback.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly has ruled out the possibility of quarterback Nick Foles leaving the franchise before the upcoming season.

Foles is set to play a supporting role during this campaign after Kelly opted to start with veteran Michael Vick, prompting questions over Foles's future with a number of NFL sides in the market for a quarterback.

However, Kelly believes that every side needs at least two good quarterbacks, and pointed to the situation that the Washington Redskins are in, with their top two quarterbacks injured, as evidence that his side cannot afford to lose Foles.

"You don't have to look any farther than [Monday] night's game with the Redskins, where RG III [Robert Griffin III] is on the sideline and Kirk Cousins goes down in the second quarter," Kelly is quoted as saying by ESPN.

"In this league, you better have a couple of quarterbacks ready to go."

The Eagles will face the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets in their final two warm-up games before getting their regular season underway against the Redskins.
