Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Phillip Hunt is likely to miss the entirety of the 2013 season after undergoing surgery.
Hunt, who was injured during the pre-season opener on Friday, was initially out with an unknown injury, but it has now been confirmed that it was a torn knee ligament.
The recovery and rehabilitation from the surgery means that Hunt will miss most if not all the upcoming season.
Hunt made eight tackles in 13 games last season.
