Philadelphia Eagles fire head coach

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking for a new head coach after sacking Andy Reid.

The Philadelphia Eagles have confirmed that Andy Reid has been sacked after 14 seasons with the team.

The head coach was issued with the ultimatum of improving on last season's 8-8 record or face the sack, but the Eagles finished with just four wins this year.

A statement from owner Jeffrey Lurie said: "Andy Reid won the most games of any head coach in Eagles history and he is someone I respect greatly and will remain friends with for many years to come.

"But, it is time for the Eagles to move in a new direction. Coach Reid leaves us with a winning tradition that we can build upon. And we are very excited about the future."

Reid led the Eagles to the playoffs nine times, winning six division titles and appearing in the NFC Championship game on five occasions.

However, Philadelphia have missed out on the playoffs for the last two seasons, and have only one division title in the last six years.
