Jason Tarver apologises for outburst

Tarver apologises for outburst

Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver has apologised for his actions on the sideline during Sunday's match against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tarver gave the match officials the middle finger on a number of occasions after they called a personal foul on cornerback Mike Jenkins for leading with the helmet in a tackle on Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell in the third quarter.

The 39-year-old said that his actions happened in the heat of the moment and apologised for taking the focus off his team.

"I apologize for my action on the sideline of yesterday's game. It was in the heat of the moment, and I regret drawing attention away from the Raiders players and what they accomplished," Tarver said in a statement.

The Raiders went on to win the match 21-18 to improve to 3-4 for the season.
