Half-Time Report: Minnesota Vikings take firm lead over Oakland Raiders

A return touchdown helps the Minnesota Vikings take a 20-14 lead into the break away from home against the Oakland Raiders.

The Minnesota Vikings have taken a 20-14 lead into half time against the Oakland Raiders.

Two pass interference calls against Oakland helped the Vikings march down the field on their first drive and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater found Rhett Ellison with a short pass for an 11-yard touchdown.

Terence Newman then picked off Derek Carr in Raiders territory, but the Vikings had to settle for a Blair Walsh field goal after Kyle Rudolph dropped a pass while open in the endzone.

Walsh would extend the visitors' lead in the second quarter after their offense stalled just outside the redzone and the kicker nailed his 38-yard attempt.

The Raiders hit back as they slowly advanced deep into the Minnesota half and Carr played it to Clive Walford for the 10-yard touchdown to make it a six-point game.

Carr then made a long pass play to Amari Cooper before he found Andre Holmes with a 38-yard reception that the receiver took into the endzone to give the home team the lead.

However, Cordarrelle Patterson ran back the following kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown to restore the Vikings' advantage heading into the break ahead as they look to go to the top of the NFC North.
