Goodell considers abolishing kickoffs

Roger Goodell has said that he has thought about removing kickoffs from the NFL.

The league's commissioner is looking at ways to change the way play gets underway.

Goodell told Time magazine: "It's an off-the-wall idea. It's different and makes you think differently. It did me."

One idea being considered would see a team get the ball at their 30-yard line, with the option to retain position or punt.

The changes would improve a trailing team's chances of staging a fourth-quarter comeback.
