Rex Ryan expects Tim Tebow to be active against the Arizona Cardinals despite carrying a rib injury.

Rex Ryan has said that he expects Tim Tebow to be ready to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, despite having two broken ribs.

The New York Jets backup quarterback was active for their game against the New England Patriots on Thursday, but didn't take to the field because of the injury.

Ryan told the Associated Press: "I'm not expecting anything to change as far as his availability, but we'll see how the week goes, to see if there's any significant change or anything else.

"I know he was active for the game, but we'll see. I know he's getting treatment and things like that.

"I considered putting Greg [McElroy, the Jets third-string quarterback] up and having [Tebow down], but he's like, 'Coach, I'm fine. I can go.' That was why I made the decision to have him there as a backup quarterback only."

Tebow has been sharing carries with starting quarterback Mark Sanchez this season, since joining the Jets from the Denver Broncos in the off-season.
