Geno Smith beats Mark Sanchez to starting spot?

Geno Smith will reportedly begin the season as the New York Jets' starting quarterback.

The New York Jets are believed to have chosen rookie quarterback Geno Smith over Mark Sanchez for week one of the 2013 season.

Smith and Sanchez have battled all pre-season to take the starting jersey, but according to NFL.com it is likely to go to Smith.

Sanchez is currently recovering from a shoulder bruise and could still be injured when the season begins in early September.

If that is the case then Smith, the 39th overall Draft pick, would begin the season as the Jets' starting QB.
