NFL.com reports that the New York Jets quarterback met with surgeon Dr James Andrews yesterday, but has chosen not to have an operation at this stage.

In a text to ESPN, the 26-year-old said: "If I needed surgery right now, I never would have left Andrews's office. I would've stayed and got the surgery."

Sanchez sustained the injury during the team's pre-season game against the New York Giants.
