Jets release Quinn, sign Lansanah

The New York Jets have announced that they have released Brady Quinn and elevated linebacker Danny Lansanah from the team's practice squad.

The quarterback joined the Jets on Monday, having been cut by the Seattle Seahawks last weekend.

The decision comes after the AFC East side decided to name second-round draft pick Geno Smith as their starter for the opening game of the season, with fellow rookie Matt Simms as backup.

Lansanah, who was signed to the Jets' practice squad earlier this week, takes Quinn's place on the active roster.

The Jets play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers later today.
