Geno Smith to learn from training errors

The New York Jets' rookie quarterback Geno Smith has vowed to learn from the mistakes he makes in their pre-season training camp.

Smith, who is currently competing with under-fire Mark Sanchez for the starting quarterback jersey, threw two interceptions in the red zone during a training drill on Monday.

However, the 22-year-old refused to view the session as a setback, instead taking valuable lessons from his mistakes so that he does not make them again.

"I don't see it as a setback, I see it as a learning experience," he told reporters.

"If I'm a little more cautious with the ball, we don't have those turnovers and we at least walk away with three points."

Geno Smith will embark on his first season in the NFL this year, having been selected as the 39th overall pick in this year's draft.
