Patriots release Wilson

The New England Patriots have announced that Adrian Wilson has been released from the team's roster.

The safety joined the AFC East side last March, but missed the 2013 season after picking up an ankle injury in pre-season.

The 34-year-old entered the league in 2001 as a third-round Draft pick with the Arizona Cardinals.

Wilson has made 721 tackles during his 181 games in the league.
