Julian Edelman ensure of New England Patriots return

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman admits that he does not know whether he will sign a new contract with the AFC East side for the 2014 NFL season.

Julian Edelman has said that he is not sure whether he will return to the New England Patriots in 2014.

The wide receiver signed a one-year deal with no guaranteed money last April to keep him with the AFC East side, and went on to be the team's leading receiver in 2013 with 1,056 yards and six touchdowns.

The 27-year-old told WBZ-FM: "Playing for New England is a dream, but like you said, there's a short window in this sport. I don't know yet. There's a lot of things that can happen going forward that could sway that one way or another. Hopefully it all works out in favor for both.

"I played 51% of the snaps outside, though, but you can go ahead and call me a slot as well."

Edelman had recorded just over 700 yards and four touchdowns in his first four seasons in the NFL.
