New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has praised his side for overcoming a number of obstacles to reach the AFC championship game this season.
The Patriots suffered some a high-profile injuries throughout the campaign and were forced to come from behind to win matches on a number of occasions, including erasing a 24-point deficit to beat the Denver Broncos 34-31 after overtime on November 24.
They will face the Broncos again this Sunday with a Super Bowl place up for grabs, and Brady took the time to reflect on his side's season so far.
"I think we've overcome a lot of things, a lot of injuries, we've had some amazing comebacks to get to this situation where we finished the regular season 12-4 with a lot of players filling some big roles over the course of the year," Brady told WEEI.
"And then to having really played our best football the last three weeks, and now to get a chance to go play one of the best teams in the league, it's everything you could ask for. This is what football is all about."
The Patriots last appeared in the Super Bowl in 2011, when they lost 21-17 to the New York Giants.
