Peterson stars as Vikings beat Chargers

The Minnesota Vikings have beaten the San Diego Chargers 31-14 with a convincing performance at the TCF Bank Stadium this evening.

Blair Walsh put the opening points on the scoreboard for the hosts with a 24-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Things then became a little more lively in the second, with Adrian Peterson picking up the first touchdown of the game and his first since 2013 to help the Vikings to a 10-0 lead.

The Chargers came back into it with just over a minute remaining in the second quarter, however, when Philip Rivers found Keenan Allen for a 34-yard touchdown.

Into the third, and Peterson got his second touchdown of the day by breaking three tackles on a 43-yard run.

Zach Line then got in on the action with a one-yard touchdown, taking the score to 24-7.

Linebacker Chad Greenway extended the lead for the Vikings early on in the fourth quarter, running an incredible 91 yards with teammates in tow to find the endzone.

Allen touched down for the Chargers in the dying embers of the game after receiving the ball from Kellen Clemens, but it was no more than a consolation score for Mike McCoy's side.
