Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder has revealed that he is preparing as normal to face the Carolina Panthers on Sunday despite speculation over his starting spot.
Ponder missed the Vikings' last match as replacement Matt Cassel played a big part in helping his side to their first win of the season, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley.
Josh Freeman was also signed to the roster this week, creating yet more competition for Ponder, who is currently recovering from a rib injury.
However, the 25-year-old is happy to let coach Leslie Frazier make the decision as to who starts, choosing instead to focus on returning to full fitness in time for Sunday's match.
"I'm not management. My focus right now is on getting healthy and preparation. We'll see what happens. It's their decision. It's not my decision," Ponder told reporters. "Obviously, I can control how I play. In my eyes, I'm getting prepared to play."
The Vikings, who are coming out of a bye week, currently have a 1-3 record for the season and sit bottom of the NFC North.
