Half-Time Report: Minnesota Vikings hold narrow lead

The Minnesota Vikings hold a slender lead against the Detroit Lions going into half time.

The Minnesota Vikings hold a slender lead against the Detroit Lions heading into the half-time interval in their NFL clash.

The Vikings took the lead in the first quarter following a superb 78-yard run from last year's MVP Adrian Peterson, with Bradley Walsh following up with a kick to make it 7-0.

The Lions notched their first score soon after when David Akers produced a 33-yard field goal to bring the scores to 7-3.

The Lions continued to make progress in the second quarter towards reducing the deficit as Akers delivered another field goal, this one coming from 42 yards to take Detroit's score to six points.

However, the Vikings soon increased their advantage with another touchdown from Peterson as he completed a four-yard run, with Walsh adding an extra point with the kick and making the scores 14-6.

The Lions then hit back to put themselves within touching distance of their opponents on the stroke of half time, as a two-yard run from Joique Bell followed by an Akers kick left the scores at 14-13.
