Mike Wallace has said that the Miami Dolphins took a gamble when they signed him earlier this year.
The AFC East side handed the former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver a five-year $60m (£39m) contract in March.
The 26-year-old told The MMQB: "I don't think they'd give that to just anybody.
"They took a gamble and feel like I'm either one of the best or can be one of the best. You're worth whatever they pay you, and the team felt like I was worth it."
Wallace recorded 836 receiving yards and scored eight touchdowns for the Steelers in 2012.
