Half-Time Report: Buffalo Bills lead Miami Dolphins as offenses struggle in South Florida

Dan Carpenter scores two field goals to help the Buffalo Bills to a 6-3 half-time lead over the Miami Dolphins.

A couple of field goals from Dan Carpenter have handed the Buffalo Bills a 6-3 half-time lead over the Miami Dolphins following a first half which was dominated by the defensive players on show.

The early signs suggested that the offenses were in for a tough night as Miami settled for small gains in an opening drive which lasted over eight minutes, before taking the lead with a 38-yard field goal from Caleb Sturgis.

Buffalo enjoyed similar success as Kyle Orton led his side to within 33 yards of the endzone, allowing Carpenter to level the scores with a field goal of his own.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill appeared to find his range in the early stages of the second quarter as the receivers finally started to make an impact.

However, a fumble from Jerry Hughes on the Buffalo 14-yard line ended a promising drive, with Duke Williams retrieving the ball to hand possession back to his side.

The wait for a touchdown would go on, though, as the Bills secured the lead at the interval thanks to Carpenter's field goal from 21 yards.
