AJ Jenkins "grateful" for Kansas City Chiefs move

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver AJ Jenkins says that he is grateful to have joined the AFC West side earlier this week.

AJ Jenkins has said that he is "grateful" to have been traded to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The wide receiver left the San Francisco 49ers earlier this week, with Jon Baldwin taking his place at Candlestick Park.

The 23-year-old told the Chiefs' website: "Fresh start, new team. I'm feeling good and I'm ready to go out here and play some football. I'm grateful for this opportunity.

"I'm very excited to be working with [former 49ers teammate] Alex Smith, a QB who I'm very familiar with. I'm just looking forward to coming out here and being the best Chiefs [player] I can be and I'm ready for the opportunity.

"When I first got there, me and Alex were working out a lot together. We were talking a lot about the offense, trying to get me up to speed with the offense. It's kind of like the same thing now, he's been here since the off-season, now he has to put me up to speed again with the playbook. So, we'll just keep on working and keep on doing what we do."

Jenkins made no receptions for the 49ers during his rookie season.
