JJ Watt's mother called twice over no helmet sack

Watt's mum called twice over no helmet sack

Houston Texans defensive end JJ Watt has revealed that his mother rang him twice after his no helmet sack of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith last week.

Chiefs tackle Jah Reid pulled Watt's helmet off during the play, and Watt assured his worried mum that he was fine. However, this did not satisfy Mrs Watt, who rang the 26-year-old back hours later.

The Defensive Player of the Year told ESPN: "I put more air into the helmet now, hopefully 330-pound men won't try to rip it off again. It comes off easy if they try.

"People made such a big deal out of it, literally you don't even think twice about it."

Watt got two sacks in the opening game after notching up 20.5 for the second season in his career in 2014.
