Texans defensive end JJ Watt becomes comic book star

JJ Watt says that it is "pretty cool" to have been portrayed as a superhero in a new advertising series.

Houston Texans star J.J. Watt has been portrayed as a comic book character in a new advertising campaign.

Gatorade and DC Comics have teamed up to produce a series of cartoons on 'super freaks', with their latest effort focusing on defensive end Watt.

The 24-year-old is portrayed as 'Mega Watt' in the campaign, with his hard-work ethic and determination key strengths of his animated self.

Watt told Texans.com: "It's pretty cool. It's one of those things that, as a kid, you look at things like Superman and Spider-Man and Batman, and to see yourself as a comic book character, it's really cool.

"These are the types of things that, when I'm done playing and I look back and I'm like, 'I had a comic book character, that's really cool. That's something I'll be able to show my kids someday. It's a really neat deal."

Watt's 20.5 sacks, 23 tackles for loss and 16 swatted passes in 2012 elevated him to star status within the NFL last season.
