Reed: 'Phillips probably the reason I left Houston'

Ed Reed has labelled Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips as a key reason why he left the team earlier this month.

The veteran safety only joined the Texans in the off-season, but is now with the New York Jets having signed with Rex Ryan's unit last week.

Reed told the Baltimore Sun: "In hindsight, Phillips is probably the reason I'm not there. I didn't have a problem with most of the players or coaches.

"The defense was not a good fit for a lot of people that are still there, not just me. The truth is the truth and they know that I know. Phillips basically came in and made sure that I was leaving."

The 35-year-old won the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in February.
