New York Jets' Rex Ryan backs Houston Texans' Romeo Crennel appointment

Romeo Crennel will prove a successful defensive coordinator for the Texans, according to Rex Ryan.

The head coach of the New York Jets Rex Ryan has claimed that Romeo Crennel will prove to be a success in his role as Houston Texans defensive coordinator.

Ryan said that he and his brother Rob Ryan know Crennel well having played against him and coached with him respectively, and believes that he is the right person for the job.

"I actually had a long career going against him," Ryan told the Texans' official website. "My twin brother, the less handsome one, is the one who had a long career with Romeo and coached with him.

"Romeo is a football coach and a great person so it's not only that the Texans are getting an A-plus coach, they're also getting an A-plus person and really a salt of the earth type of guy."

Crennel was appointed to his Texans post on January 21.
