Packers: 'We need Seahawks to win'

The Green Bay Packers have said that they will be cheering for the Seattle Seahawks as they take on the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

The 49ers are currently the second seeds in the NFC and would qualify for a bye week in the playoffs, while the Packers are third.

Linebacker Clay Matthews told reporters: "Without looking in the past, we have to root for a team we fell short to.

"So that's how it goes. We'll control our own destiny by winning these out, and hopefully we can get some help along the way."

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers added: "We'd love to have that bye, be sitting there at the one or two seed. So at this point, we're trying to have a short memory, kind of rooting for the teams that you need to win."

The Seahawks recorded a controversial win over the Packers earlier in the season, being awarded a touchdown in the final seconds of the game, which replays indicated should have been a touchback for Green Bay.
