Detroit Lions halted by Minnesota Vikings in loss

Detroit Lions are still searching for their first win after losing 26-16 to their NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.

The Detroit Lions fell to their second loss of the season after losing 26-16 to the Minnesota Vikings this evening.

Minnesota started well with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater leading an 11-play, 75-yard drive down the field to find Kyle Rudolph for an early touchdown

Bridgewater then converted a fourth-and-goal play from the one-yard line to give the Vikings a two-score lead.

Detroit came back with a solid drive that would end with a field goal before Vikings kicker Blair Walsh replied in kind moments later.

That was how it stayed until late in the first half as Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford found his favourite target Calvin Johnson to cut the deficit to within a touchdown.

A Stafford fumble gave Minnesota a great chance after the break but running back Adrian Peterson would fumble the ball back to Detroit on the very next play.

However, the Lions did not capitalise and the Vikings would get another score late in the third quarter with Zach Line driving in from the one-yard line, although Walsh missed the extra point.

The Vikings kicker would hit another field goal in the fourth quarter before the Lions gave their NFC North rivals a late scare thanks to an Eric Ebron touchdown.

The Vikings held on for their first win of the season while Detroit will have to wait for their opening victory.
