Jim Schwartz refuses to discuss future

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz refuses to discuss his future following Monday's 18-16 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has refused to discuss his future following his side's 18-16 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday.

The defeat leaves the Lions 7-7 for the season and needing the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers to drop a game while also winning both of their own remaining matches in order to reach the playoffs.

The Lions have only made the playoffs once during Schwartz's time in charge of the side and, while he allowed some questions to be asked regarding his future, the 47-year-old was keen to stress that his focus is solely on Sunday's match against the New York Giants.

"You know what, I understand you guys have a job to do and it's stuff that you guys want to talk about and stuff like that and that's fine," Schwartz told reporters.

"But I don't think it does any good for me or for our team to let that be the focus, for us to continue commenting on that. So I think I just respectfully decline to keep going in the same place with those."

Schwartz, who took over a team that had gone 0-16 in 2008, has an overall record of 29-50 in charge of the Lions.
