Detroit Lions chairman expects strong start for Jim Caldwell

Detroit Lions' Bill Ford hopes that Jim Caldwell can start the 2014 season strongly.

Detroit Lions vice president Bill Ford has said that the club's roster is well set up for the new head coach to start strongly in the 2014 season.

Jim Caldwell was appointed as the club's head coach this week, and Ford is happy with the passion that his new man has shown since taking the reins.

"I think he's very calm and very measured, but has a real fire burning inside of him," Ford told the club's official website. "You also heard him today talk about penalties, turnovers, discipline. I think that's all things this team could use and Jim will bring.

"We're frustrated. We feel like we have a good roster. We heard that from Jim, too. He feels like we have a good roster. So I expect him to hit the ground running."

The Lions were disappointing in 2013, finishing with 7-9 for the season.
