Wes Welker: 'Concussion wouldn't stop me playing'

Welker: 'Concussion wouldn't stop me playing'

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has insisted that he would not miss his chance to play in the Super Bowl, even if he had picked up a concussion in the build-up.

Welker was injured twice for his old side New England Patriots, missing out on two Super Bowls, but said that there would be nothing that what stop him on Sunday when the Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks.

"You want to be out there," he told Sportsfan.com. "The Super Bowl, this is what you dream about. You're going to be there. I don't care what it takes, you're going to be out there in this game.

"I think they do a good job of the protocols and different things like that these days. But we're football players. We're competitors and you want to be out there playing. You want to be out there on the field and giving your best for your team."

Welker was out earlier this season with a concussion and missed the Broncos' final three regular season games.
