Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden would have been playing for the Denver Broncos if they had not acquired Peyton Manning.

The Denver Broncos have said that they would have drafted Brandon Weeden if Peyton Manning had not agreed to join the side.

Manning signed for the AFC West team ahead of the current season after being released by the Indianapolis Colts, having missed a full season recovering from neck and spine surgery.

The Denver Post reports that the Broncos would have selected Weeden in the 2012 Draft, if Manning had signed for another side.

Weeden was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns, who face the Broncos this weekend.
