Denver Broncos safety TJ Ward has been handed a one-game suspension for breaking the NFL's personal conduct policy.
The team have announced that the ban comes from misdemeanor charges dating back to May 2014 that were later dropped.
The safety will miss the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens but is available for selection for their week two game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The two-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year contract with the AFC West team last year, finishing with two sacks and two interceptions in his first season.
