Steve Smith hints at Carolina Panthers exit

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith hints that his 13-year spell with the team could be nearing an end.

Long-serving Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has hinted that his time with the team could be about to end.

Smith joined the Panthers in 2001 and has since gone on to become their all-time leading receiver with 836 catches for 12,197 yards and 67 touchdowns.

However, the Panthers are thought to be looking to trade the 34-year-old this off-season, and he took to Twitter to post what appeared to be a farewell message, as well as allude to the fact that he would not retire.

"I will always be a Carolina panther No contract can ever change that CLT is my home and will always be my home... I love you #panthernation," Smith wrote.

"But I still have a lil bit of football left in me.... #agent89 Out. #iceupson."

Smith's agent also expressed his belief that his client would not play for the Panthers again.
